When I hear WWII I think Holocaust. I think Holocaust because I live in America and wasn't alive at the time. This isn't the case for most Europeans. Many have untold stories of the Nazis. The French for instance defied Hitler and his Nazis. They formed the French Resistance, they were relentless in secrecrative ways and bold ways. They bombed, they sheltered Jews, they helped POWs escape, the list could go on, but the war couldn't. WWII was a mass genocide for major European countries. In the book "Nightingale", Isabel one of the main characters is a sweet, beautiful, polite young lady. Everyone fell for her guise. That is how she was able to trek the great mountain range countless times to assist the downed airmen and soldiers to safety in other countrys' borders and never get accused of doing so. WWII is a the most globally talked about war to this day. It effected numerous countries, directly or indirectly just about all of them had some type of involvement. "Nightingale" shows what a young French country girl could do to fight the Nazis away from her home. "Nightingale" is just one perspective of the war. WWII has so many perspectives and events I think I would bore if you I went over them all.

Nightingale isn't as peaceful as it sounds. It is from the perspective of French citizens during WWII. The men marched off to war and the women stationed themselves at home. They stayed behind to care for thier home and familys. Not to mention they weren't legally allowed to go join the war. With their men away and them left in charge they had to provide for themselves somehow. They all received ration cards and fought for their town's weekly meager supply of meat, dairy and grains. They did this in the faint, quiet mornings before work. Many joined the local factory workforces. Others joined the teacher union. The entrepreneurial women opened shops, hotels and taverns. They were very resourceful in a time of war. Even now, in current day, women provide for their families with or without the men around. Their families rely on them for food, water, shelter, money and love. Modern day women are even allowed to join the military! The fight, they work, they care, they help their families in anyway possible. They thrive in past and modern day life. If something is needed and the men aren't doing it then the wonen will.
BackGround Info : According to the North Carolina Association of Feeding America Food Banks, North Carolina has one of the highest levels of hunger in the United States. About 81% of people don't know where their next meal will be coming from. Surprisingly 36% of food pantries turned away from people because of the lack of food. An estimated 73% of households have to choose between paying for medical healthcare or food. About 75% households have to choose between warming their homes and buying food. Another 61% have to choose between paying for a house or paying for food. Sadly 22% have been estimated to be in the military. And 6% are in the military right now. Hunger can affect anyone in our community. We are interested in this issue being that a lot of people are affected and nobody deserves to be going hungry at night. Others should care about this issue because they could feed a hungry but also they could know a person that is going hungry but they don't know about it.. So we are hoping to do a food drive. Whichever eighth grade homeroom brings the most food in gets Krispy Kreme™ donuts. The food we want to bring in is dried rice, beans, canned food, and water. We will then give this food to CPO, a donation service, to have them distribute it to our local community. Hunger can affect everyone. It affects kids, adults, military, nonmilitary, male and female. More people than expected or known are affected by hunger. Anybody in your state or city can be affected by hunger. Since the very founding of NC, hunger has been an issue. It influences some people's ways of life. They live minimal paycheck to minimal paycheck. Hunger can grip families longer than it should. Hunger leads to crime, crime takes away jobs. Jobs provide money, which provides food. Hungry kids are young, and they can’t get jobs to prevent their hunger or their family’s. People can starve to death, to delirium, or crime. It is very shocking what mental effects hunger has on certain people. We should do all we can to help prevent hunger from influencing our surrounding community. Donate or volunteer at local places to do your part in fighting hunger! If this issue is not taken care of unforeseen consequences will occur; crime, death, disease. These local places are sometimes founded by people directly connected to those who suffer due to hunger, maybe even their family. Many places have hungry people seek them, although some special places like the Brown Bag Ministry, go seek the hungry. These places thrive from volunteers who help prepare and share the food. The food comes from donations. Some people don't have enough time to volunteer their service, so they just donate food instead. You can’t feed someone once and expect them to never hunger again. These locals still rely on donations and volunteers to provide their next meal. Food isn’t unlimited to these individuals or organizations. This effort to stop hunger will continue many years into the future. We will always need assistance to fight hunger. Some people have gardens, some have soup kitchens, food pantries, and other organizations. All of these examples will continue to feed the hungry. People will always be hungry and we need to continue feeding it. Our plan is to do a food drive where each eighth grade homeroom is competing for the reward of three dozen donuts! The homeroom with the most donations of canned food, dried rice beans, and water will win the reward. Expired food will not give progress towards our goal of 1200 donations. That's approximately four donations per person! The collection progress for the food drive will be aired on the MMS student news every Monday. All donations will be collected from homerooms every Thursday and kept in the front office after collection and counting. After the drive is over, will give the donations to CPO, a non profit organization that provides food pantries and soup kitchens . Remember, every donation counts. We will start the drive on April tenth. And the first collection date will be on the thirteenth. The second collection date twentieth. The third collection date will be on the twenty seventh. The last donation collection day will be May fourth. We will give out the prize on the eight. Will your homeroom get the most donations and win the donuts? Get involved! Bring your extra canned goods. Make a difference today for your local community! To go check our all the information and researched we gathered click here. I know I have already done an immigration blog post, but this time it effects where I live. Many refugees, most recently from Syria, are having trouble integrating into a American lives. They come here not knowing what to expect. They live where they are given to live, they find easy, simple work. They leave their families. Because of recent travel bans many refugees are too frightened to return home for a visit. Their new home is foreign America. In North Carolina we are very welcoming to Syrian refugees. We have limited homes and jobs for them though. We need to do what we can to either help individuals or all refugees. You can donate to many Greensboro organizations to help get the families started, you can start an organization, you can provide a house or job. No matter the help you give, it is meaningful and important. Help the refugees enjoy NC and America as much as you do. We don't want to be hostile like some of their countries, we want to be welcoming. We are a country of freedom.
Personality is what makes you you. I would describe my self as crazy, athletic, creative and very energetic. My parents may not agree with my assessment of myself. My mom would describe me as defiant, loud and sharp. My dad agrees and disagrees with my mom, he calls me rude, defiant, crazy and athletic. Most of my friends would describe me as loud, athletic, weird, friendly and outgoing. We all have different perspectives of someones personality. It varies how well you know a person.
Many of don't know the struggle of special needs and all their needs. Dogs are one of those needs. Special trained dogs knows how to handle and control different needs. All these service dogs are expensive to train and buy. Families who need these dogs most, have spent so much money already. These families start fundraisers to help get money to contribute to the purchase. Lend a helping hand, donate, train or volunteer to help the families and the dog training organizations. A local Apex family is who drew my attention to this issue. The article I found about them was very detailed and meaningful. Take a look, see you what you think you can do to help:
http://www.twcnews.com/nc/triangle-sandhills/news/2017/03/6/funds-being-raised-for-apex-girl-s-therapy-dog.html Immigrants are the building blocks of America. The Asians built railroads, Edison invented light bulbs, Carneige made steel, and many other immigrants helped. An Irish immigrant created a plan to assemble the Statue of Liberty. The statue is very symbolic to all Americans, new and old. Immigrants are who we are! They shaped our existence and our lifestyle, we should be grateful, not hateful.
